Boy, what a difference a day or 2 makes.
This spot is the same spot from my last !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! just 2 days ago, this morning? 12-14 inches line the mountainside (and road). Seeing as how I had to be in Park City for work again I thought I would take the opportunity to drive the pass one last time before its closed for winter. Also, it was a chance to test out my new tires and my truck in the snow for the first time. Also, this is for some people who shall remain nameless who thought my last video didn't meet their demanding expectations for youtube. The hill was definitly a challenge this time, but...well...not too much of a challenge. Big meaty tires and triple lockers are great things.

Turns out its been a while since I've driven a real truck in the snow, and despite the same type of AWD as my last car (permanent with viscous coupling center diff) they couldn't have handled more differently. PLOW! but on the bright side, it was damn near unstoppable, there were, as i mentioned, 14 or so inches of snow and it didn't feel like more than a trace to the cruiser....until you tried to turn. That being said, its still easier than trying to do it with the center diff locked. I think the main difference is power, my old car had power to spare at any elevation the cruiser? It has all it needs within the keyword "Low"; Low in the rpm band, low vehicle speeds, low elevation. At this altitude I was making...at best...155 hp, for about 5000 lbs of truck for a power to weight of, wait for it...32 lbs/hp, or a little less than half of my old subi....and it felt it.
Still, it felt pretty great to be out.
as a "bonus" here is what I mean by !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
Went up a hill, hill started to camber, decided I couldn't make it, tried reversing down, sliding sideways, barely turned around before big ditch. Oops.

Holy crap. Meanwhile, here in Tucson, it is still warm enough for me to use my pool!

I know what you mean about snow and nearly unstoppable.
